Last meeting with Raph Cannon

This photo was taken on the wedding of our 2nd daughter Su Min, on the above-stated date, being the last time I would meet him again. I know my daughter and husband Jay had visited him at the nursing home taking care of him.

Bro Ralph Cannon, whose wife Ruth passed away years earlier, is not the longest living American member of the Church I know whom I have long-lasting face-to-face contact with during my lifetime. This is because he and his wife only came to serve as couple missionaries in Kuala Lumpur in the year 1981. There were other American members I knew earlier such as Elder Stephen Brown who baptized me in Australia and David Gessel who was one of the many missionaries who had taught me. I was able to meet up with these good and old friends of mine over the years due to my frequent travel to the US, particularly to Salt Lake City and Bro Cannon just lived a short distance from the airport near the Salt Lake Temple.

For the record, he is one of the few I know who lived to be classified as a Centurion measured in comparison with others I know at this time of writing (13 Mar 2018). His passing inspired me to start a special memorial post for him and other Americans who are members of the Church whom I had known for many years. One of them is Edna Stoker whose photo and obituary link is found in the special memorial post mentioned earlier. I later changed the selection criteria of who would be included in the special post to include other Church members whom I know or have met who have served full-time missions for the Church who may not be Americans.
